ADECRI has recently been selected by the Inter-American Development Bank to conduct a study of the pensions system for public sector employees in Guiana, with a view to the upcoming reform of the system.
The study will include: a regulatory, administrative and institutional analysis and an analysis of the existing information system; an assessment of the medium-term impact of the current pensions system on public finances; and the identification, evaluation and presentation of possible options for reform. The 2-month long study will be conducted by a team of experts comprising an economist, an actuary, an information systems expert and a local legal expert, and providing a 75% in-country input. The project will also involve a mid-term study tour in French Guiana with the support of the General Social Security Fund (CGSS) of Cayenne. The study is an opportunity for ADECRI to penetrate the American continent and a chance to demonstrate French expertise to a funding institution which is very active in the region.
