ADECRI (Agency for the Development and Coordination of International Relations), as part of a Franco-Spanish consortium, has just won a tender financed by the European Commission for the creation of a social security benefits agency in Romania.
Over the past few years, the preparation and process of EU enlargement has spawned a host of cooperation and assistance initiatives aimed at the countries of central and eastern Europe (CEEC). These programmes and projects concern both new members and accession candidate countries – including Romania which, with the European Commission, has issued a call for tenders for assistance in creating a social security benefits agency and a social observatory. ADECRI will supervise the part of the project concerning the creation of a new social security body to administer social security and family benefits. The project will involve input from experts from the French family branch of the French social security system, who will assist the Romanian authorities in developing and implementing a computer system and organising the delivery of benefits.
