EN3S National Forum in Paris on 19 and 20 October
Publiée le : 02 October 2006
The 9th EN3SNational Forum explores the theme of: "Populations, demographics and social protection: how do demographics shape social protection?"
Every two years the FrenchNationalSchool for Social Security holds a forum for all French social protection players.
A birth rate of 1.9, longer life expectancy, the wave of retiring baby boomers, and changing social and family structures are all factors that are reversing demographic trends and raising numerous questions about issues such as the sustainability of current forms of pension provision, population renewal and immigration.
As demographics change, so do people’s needs and expectations in terms of social protection. These profound changes beg the question of the role of demographics in shaping social protection, i.e. how do immigration, family patterns and ageing populations impact on social protection - and conversely, how do social protection policies impact on demographic trends?
Following opening addresses by the minister with responsibility for Social Security, the Elderly, People with Disabilities and the Family, Philippe Bas, and the chairman of EN3S, Jean-Marie Spaeth, experts will debate, among others, the following the questions: How does the free movement of people within the EU-25 affect social protection? How do changing family structures and ageing populations affect social protection?
